Adria = sea or water, possibly from ancient Venetic and Illyric word adur.  

 

The Arte Adria team has over 25 years of experience in music, theatre and media as musicians, managers, consultants and art educators.

 

Arte Adria’s Director Maja Zarkovic co-founded Aestas Musica International School for Baroque Music and Dance in Croatia, Musica Aeterna Concert Cycle Dubrovnik and Early Music Festival Dubrovnik. Maja was the director of  Opera at Croatian National Theatre of Split as well as director of Music Programme of Split Summer Festival, Head of Music Faculty at the European Mozart Academy. She is a guest broadcaster at Croatian Radio 3 Programme, and a music dramaturge and Ars Acustica author. Maja also runs Island of Sounds courses for voice opening through body movement.

Maja got a scholarship and graduated from the Royal College of Music in London, where she studied viola with Brian Hawkins, violin with Grigori Zhislin and Baroque violin with Catherine Mackintosh. Her interests in creativity, psychology and sociology led her to further the studies at UCL Institute of Education where she got Master of Arts in Music Education and City University London where she got Master of Arts in Arts Management.
