Andrea Nikolic, violin and artistic direction

Andrea Nikolić has established herself as one of the most interesting and versatile artist of her generation, being reviewed as a young violinist of mature musicality and imagination, superior technique and a heartwarming sound by the Viennese press. Born in Vareš, Bosnia and Herzegovina, she grew up in Varaždin, Croatia and after studying in Croatia, Austria and UK, Andrea found her artistic base in Vienna, Austria.

Andrea is active as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician and an enthusiastic leader/concertmaster. Since 2013, she has been an artistic director and co-founder, of VaClaF: Vareš Classic Festival – International Chamber Music Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Andrea is also a leader and artistic director of Vienna based Ensemble WISE – Wien International Soloists Ensemble.

Performing both on period and modern violin and viola, Andrea’s interests and repertoire include wide range of works from the early baroque period to contemporary music and jazz. Devoted deeply to the artistic and emotionally honest interpretations, she wholeheartedly explores the diversity of musical styles, genres, and approaches in order to bring classical music closer to the wider audiences and make it accessible and understandable to everyone.

As a passionate arts and education ambassador, Andrea is an active pedagogue and devoted to socially engaging and humanitarian work. Languages and literature being another of her passions, Andrea learned to speak six languages and is constantly aspiring to learn more.
